When the arc burns, it generates strong light while producing high heat, and the two are applied in industry. The high heat of the arc can be used for arc cutting, welding and steelmaking. The strong light of the arc can illuminate (such as searchlight) or show movies with arc lamp. However, as a very strong light source, welding arc will produce strong arc radiation. This arc radiation can cause damage to the human body.
The arc temperature of manual arc welding is 5000-6000 degrees, so that strong radiation can be generated. However, due to the shielding of the sleeve and the absorption of welding smoke, the radiation intensity is weaker than that of gas shielded welding and plasma welding.
The flux of non ftig welding is smaller than that of manual arc welding. The current density of melted electrode argon arc welding is very high, and its power can be more than 5 times that of non-melted electrode argon arc welding, so its solitary temperature is higher, and its light radiation intensity is higher than that of non-melted electrode argon arc welding. The radiation intensity of non fusion argon arc welding is 5 times higher than that of ordinary arc welding. The radiation intensity of argon arc welding is about 20-30 times that of common arc welding.
Plasma arc welding and cutting arc temperature is higher, up to 1600-33000 C, its light radiation intensity is higher than argon arc welding and manual arc welding, the three are listed in Table 5-2.
